Austin is a driving city. The buses and the rail line cover part of it, but the places people actually go, from a taco truck on East Cesar Chavez to a swim at Barton Springs to a meeting at the Domain, are spread across a lot of ground. A car makes the trip work. Waiting in a rental line to get one does not.
We rent recent, automatic economy cars and SUVs and bring them to you anywhere in Greater Austin: your hotel downtown, your house in Mueller, your office in North Austin or the arrivals curb at AUS. Prices start at $98 a day for a Corolla or Civic, you can rent from age 21 with no young-driver surcharge, and the price you see has no airport concession fee or facility charge added on top.

Why a delivered car beats the AUS rental counter
At Austin-Bergstrom, the counter route means walking from baggage claim to the rental car facility, finding your company, standing in line and then walking the garage for your car. After a late flight or during a festival week, that can take longer than the drive into town.
With us, you send your flight number, we track it, and the car is at the arrivals curb when you walk out. The handover takes about ten minutes: license, card, a quick walk-around, keys. Airport counters typically add concession recovery and facility charges to the daily rate; we don't, because we don't operate a counter. The details are on our AUS airport rental page and in the guide AUS without the counter.
Not flying in? Delivery to a home, hotel or office is free too, and so is collection at the end.
Which car for which Austin trip
-
Solo or a couple, mostly in town: a Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic at $98/day. Easy to park on Rainey Street or in a West Campus garage, good on gas for daily I-35 commuting.
-
Business trips and longer highway days: the Honda Accord at $114/day has a bigger trunk and a quieter ride to San Antonio or Waco.
-
Families and Hill Country weekends: a Mazda CX-5 from $114/day, or the larger SUVs on our SUV rental page.
-
Groups, teams and wedding parties: the 12-seat Ford Transit at $296/day.

Neighborhoods we deliver to every day
Most of our Austin deliveries land in a handful of areas, and each has its own logistics.
-
Downtown and Rainey Street: hotels with valet or a loading zone are the easiest handover. Tell us the hotel and we'll meet you out front.
-
South Congress and Bouldin Creek: SoCo hotels and short-term rentals. Street parking is tight on weekends, so we set a meeting point when we confirm.
-
East Austin: homes and rentals around East 6th, Holly and Cherrywood.
-
The Domain and North Austin: offices and hotels around the Domain and the tech campuses up toward Parmer Lane.
-
Mueller: family homes and the Dell Children's area.
-
UT and West Campus: student apartments and visiting parents. See our parents' weekend and graduation guide.
-
Zilker, Barton Hills and Barton Creek: close to Barton Springs Pool and the resorts west of MoPac.
Getting around Austin by car
Three roads shape most drives. I-35 runs north-south through downtown and is the slowest stretch at rush hour, made worse by the ongoing rebuild through the center of the city. MoPac (Loop 1) parallels it on the west side and is usually the better way from downtown to the Domain or Zilker. US 183 links the airport to East and North Austin and continues up to Cedar Park and Leander.
Toll roads are part of the map: SH 130 and SH 45 run east and north of town, 183A runs to Leander, and MoPac has express toll lanes. They often save real time. How tolls are handled on our cars is something to ask us when you book.
Without traffic, AUS to downtown is about 15 minutes and downtown to the Domain about 20. At 5 p.m. on a weekday, plan on double. Downtown garages and meters cost money, so if your hotel charges for parking, ask about it before you arrive.
Event weekends: book early
Austin fills up around a few dates every year: SXSW in March, ACL Fest at Zilker Park over two October weekends, the Formula 1 race at Circuit of the Americas, and UT home football games. Hotels, rideshare surge pricing and rental counters all feel it. Cars run out, so the earlier you book, the more choice you have. Our SXSW and ACL guide covers which category to pick and where to park.
For day trips, the guide to Hill Country day trips from Austin covers Fredericksburg, Wimberley and the wineries along US 290.

Common questions
How much is an economy car rental in Austin?
Our compact sedans, the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic or similar, are $98 a day with free delivery in Greater Austin. Rentals of three days or more cost less per day, and a week less still. Call or text 512-851-0490 for a quote on your dates.
Can I rent a car in Austin at 21?
Yes. The minimum age is 21 and there is no young-driver surcharge. You need a valid driver's license and a major credit or debit card.
Do you deliver the car to my hotel or Airbnb in Austin?
Yes. Delivery and collection are free anywhere in Greater Austin, including downtown hotels, South Congress rentals, homes in Mueller or East Austin, and offices around the Domain.
Is it cheaper than renting at the Austin airport counter?
Airport counters typically add concession recovery and facility charges to the base rate. We don't charge either, so there are no hidden fees: we confirm your exact rate before you pay. Details are on our AUS airport page.
Do I need a car in Austin?
For most visitors, yes. Downtown is walkable, but Barton Springs, the Domain, South Lamar, Lake Travis and the Hill Country are far apart and transit is limited. A car also beats rideshare surge pricing during SXSW, ACL and race weekends.
What if I need a car for a month?
Monthly rates are quoted directly by phone. See monthly car rental in Austin for how it works.
