The Mustang Mach-E is the one most people want: five seats, three large bags, around 250 miles of range, quick, and it parks like a normal SUV. It does the business week at the Domain, the UT visit and a Fredericksburg day trip without thinking about charging. The Escalade IQ is the other end: seven seats, five large bags, over 400 miles of range, and the car you take when it is a family of six, a group that wants to arrive together, or a week where you would rather not see a charger at all.
Charging in Austin, in practice
Fast chargers sit along every route you will use: I-35 north and south, MoPac, 183 by the Domain, 71 toward the airport, and at the bigger H-E-B stores. Downtown garages and most hotels have Level 2 plugs for overnight charging, which is how most renters do it: plug in where you sleep and never visit a fast charger. Both cars route you to chargers from the built-in map and work with the common charging apps. For a Hill Country day, charge to full the night before and you will not need to stop.

What you need
A valid driver's license and a major credit or debit card. Minimum age is 21, with no young-driver surcharge. Basic liability coverage is included; the refundable deposit and the coverage options are explained before you pay anything. Every car is recent, automatic, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and "or similar" means you reserve the category and get that model or one of the same class, seats, year range and price.
