South Austin is where many people who move to the city end up living: the bungalows of Bouldin Creek and Travis Heights, the apartment complexes along South Lamar and South First, the newer subdivisions out by Slaughter Lane. It is also where visitors come for South Congress, Zilker Park and Barton Springs. We deliver rental cars to all of it, to the front of a house, an apartment complex, a short-term rental or a SoCo hotel, and collect them when the rental ends.
Rates and terms match the rest of our cheap car rental Austin service: no counter, no shuttle, no airport concession fee, and a minimum age of 21 with no young-driver surcharge.

Who rents in South Austin
The biggest group is residents with a car problem: a transmission at a shop on Ben White, a fender-bender on MoPac, an insurance claim that will take two weeks to settle. If your insurer is paying, our replacement car rental page explains how that booking works. A Toyota Corolla or similar or a Honda CR-V or similar delivered to the driveway is the usual answer.
The second group is visitors in short-term rentals around Travis Heights, Bouldin and Zilker, often for a long weekend. They want a car that holds two bags or four people and can handle a Hill Country day. The third is families from out of town, in for the holidays with relatives in Circle C or near Southpark Meadows, who need a Hyundai Santa Fe or similar or the seven-seat Ford Explorer or similar for a week.
South Austin, neighborhood by neighborhood
South Congress, Bouldin Creek and Travis Heights
These are the blocks closest to downtown. The shops and restaurants of SoCo run from Lady Bird Lake up toward St. Edward's University on the hill. Street parking is tight on weekends, and some residential blocks near South Congress have permit zones, so read the signs where you leave the car. Downtown is five minutes across the Congress Avenue bridge.
Zilker, Barton Hills and South Lamar
Zilker Park, Barton Springs Pool and the Barton Creek Greenbelt trailheads are all here, along with the restaurants and apartment buildings on South Lamar. ACL Festival takes over Zilker for two weekends, usually in October, and the roads around the park close or back up while it runs.
Slaughter Lane and Southpark Meadows
Far South Austin, along I-35 and MoPac near Slaughter Lane, is suburban: the big shopping center at Southpark Meadows, subdivisions on both sides of the interstate, and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center a short drive west. Downtown is about 20 to 25 minutes north without traffic.
Getting around from South Austin
The airport is close. From South Congress, Ben White Boulevard (US 290 and SH 71) runs east to AUS in about 15 minutes without traffic; from Slaughter Lane, allow about 20 to 25 minutes. Our AUS airport rental page explains the arrivals-curb handoff. Heading north is another story: MoPac and I-35 both jam at rush hour, so a drive from South Austin to the Domain can take 25 minutes or 50 depending on the hour.
South Austin is the easy side of town for leaving it. US 290 West reaches Dripping Springs in about 30 minutes and carries on to Johnson City and Fredericksburg; see Dripping Springs car rental and the Hill Country day trips. I-35 south gets you to Kyle and Buda in about 20 minutes and San Marcos in about 30. One road worth knowing: SH 45 Southwest, which links far south MoPac to FM 1626, is a toll road. The toll roads guide covers it and the rest.
Delivery to houses, apartments and short-term rentals
Send the address and a time. At a house we bring the car to the driveway or the curb out front. At an apartment complex we meet you at the leasing office or the main gate, since many complexes on South Lamar and South First have gated garages. At a short-term rental, the street address is enough. The handoff takes about ten minutes: license, card, walk-around, keys. Every booking is confirmed by phone within the hour.
Staying more than a few days changes the math: three days or more cost less per day and a week less still. For a month or longer, see monthly car rental or call or text 512-851-0490 for a quote.
A truck for the weekend project
South Austin homeowners also rent for jobs, not trips: a load of mulch and pavers from a garden center on Ben White, a dresser bought on Marketplace in Manchaca, a run to the dump after a remodel. The Toyota Tacoma or similar handles most of that, and the pickup truck rental page lists the larger option. We deliver it on Saturday morning and collect it on Sunday evening.

What you need
A valid driver's license and a major credit or debit card. Minimum age is 21, with no young-driver surcharge. Basic liability coverage is included; the refundable deposit and the coverage options are explained before you pay anything. There is no airport concession fee and no facility charge. Every car is recent, automatic, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and "or similar" means you reserve the category and get that model or one of the same class, seats and price.
Common questions
How far is South Austin from the airport?
About 15 minutes from South Congress or South Lamar by Ben White Boulevard east, and about 20 to 25 minutes from Slaughter Lane, without traffic. We meet you at the AUS arrivals curb or deliver to your address.
Do you deliver to short-term rentals in Travis Heights and Bouldin?
Yes. Give us the street address and a time and we meet you out front. Delivery and collection are included anywhere in Greater Austin, and there is no need to share a gate or door code.
My car is in the shop. Can you bring a rental to my house?
Yes, it is one of our most common South Austin bookings. The replacement car rental page explains how it works with insurance. For anything about billing an insurer, call or text 512-851-0490.
Which car for Zilker, Barton Springs and the Greenbelt?
A compact SUV such as the Mazda CX-5 or similar or the Ford Bronco Sport or similar takes towels, a cooler and muddy shoes without fuss. For two people who are mostly eating and swimming, the Toyota Corolla or similar is plenty.
Does ACL make driving in South Austin hard?
On festival weekends, usually in October, roads around Zilker Park close or back up and parking near the park is very limited. Plan routes that avoid Barton Springs Road. See Austin events car rental.
